It’s been over two years since the initial 7DFPS release of Cloudbase Prime. I certainly haven’t been working on it for all of that time, but there is a lot of work, and a lot of time, in this new release. Hopefully future releases will be far more frequent.

Not all of the audio and art is final, but a lot of it could be. Feedback would be much appreciated in terms of ironing out the stuff that doesn’t quite work. I’m especially nervous about difficulty. I don’t want to wreck new players too badly.

I got a solid start on Cloudbase Prime’s reactor fueling gameplay this weekend. I was hoping to actually get a sizable chunk of a level done, but at least I got a lot of the technical challenges out of the way and did a (hopefully amusing) story bit.

That explanation of the walking reactor platform is booooring sounding, though. I’ll have to rerecord that.

Well that was about thirty more leaves than I could stand. This is a very large tree that the player will be tasked with powering and eventually climbing. Its cyan “blossoms” launch you extremely high, so it shouldn’t be too painful of a task.

The leaves are the same width as the rest of the hex terrain in the game (~2m), to give you an idea of the scale.

After wrapping up the sound work, I’m calling Cloudbase Prime’s walker mech done (for now)! Hooray! That… took longer than I wanted it to. I’m likin’ it, though, and I can definitely work faster. Had some lazy days in there.

Lazy days are awesome.

Admittedly haven’t been progressing as fast as I’d hoped, but I buckled down and got homing missiles lookin’ pretty nice before headin’ out for some weekly shenanigans.

Homing missiles now explode, damaging the player. They’re also visible through walls thanks to the goofy lil’ alert exclamation points I draw over them at all times.

Super Robot Space Fight! has been submitted to OUYA for approval! Given that the OUYA’s official launch date is… tomorrow, the reviewers are probably pretty busy and it may take a few extra days to get through the system. Hopefully you’ll be able to jump around on planetoids and laser your friends in the face within a week or so.

I got some friends to take the 4 player versus and co-op modes through their paces this weekend and came away with a page full of improvements and bug fixes to make. The most important of those was to take advantage of the latest OUYA Unity plugin’s new control input. It’s much faster than it was before now.

This list is twenty items long… that was a tiring weekend.
